Smaller & Smarter: How Technology Has Improved Hearing Aids

Smaller & Smarter: How Technology Has Improved Hearing Aids

New Hearing Aids Use Artificial Intelligence

Starkey was the first to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) into the hearing aid market with their Livio AI hearing aid. Artificial Intelligence allows the devices to learn from your hearing experience and adjust accordingly.

Hearing aids with AI capability use directional microphones to get information about the listener’s environment and self-adjust as needed to give the user an optimal listening experience.

Reduction in background noise and enhanced speech clarity are just the beginning of what AI hearing aids can do. These devices can also track your activity level, how many steps you’ve taken and your sleep patterns to provide you with a picture of your overall health and wellness. And the devices all use Bluetooth technology to connect to your smartphone, TV and more, so using these new hearing aids is as simple and seamless as possible.

Some New Hearing Aids Are Almost Invisible

The idea of bulky hearing aids is a deterrent which prevents many people who need hearing help from getting it. But hearing aids today continue to get smaller, while being even more powerful than before.

A growing selection of new hearing aids on the market are “nearly invisible”, with some devices using silicone sleeves to maintain their small size while offering users a snug and comfortable fit. New technologies mean that impressions or molds aren’t always needed – even small hearing aids can be ready-to-wear with pre-set sizes that give the user an all-day comfort fit.

More Hearing Aids Are Rechargeable

Rechargeable batteries have been around for decades, but now many hearing aids are also rechargeable. Hearing aid users don’t have to worry about running out of batteries or having the manual dexterity to change small batteries – or the inconvenience of running out to the store to get new batteries.

Simply place the hearing aids on their charging pods for anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours to get a charge that will last from a few hours to a whole day.

Hearing Aids Are Connected – For Ease of Use and Better Sound

Old-style hearing aids were monaural devices, meaning they each worked independent of the other. Adjusting settings such as volume or background noise on your hearing aids meant adjusting each hearing aid separately.

Today’s hearing aids use wireless connectivity so they work in sync. This binaural capability allows for adjustments made on one hearing aid to take effect on the other. Binaural capability also means that the hearing aids work together to create an overall sound that resembles natural hearing even when different sounds are coming into each ear.

Hear ALL The Sounds of Life!

Hearing aid technology is improving every year with smaller, smarter devices designed to make it easier for those with hearing impairment to enjoy life to its fullest every day. Don’t get left out of conversations because your hearing isn’t up to par. There is help for your hearing that is perfectly suited for you.
