The Better Hearing Institute (BHI) conducted a study in late 2011 which showed that today’s sleek, technologically advanced, discreet hearing aids are not just helping people hear better, but improving the quality of their lives. In this national study, a whopping 82 percent of respondents said that they would recommend hearing aids to their friends.
Hearing Aids Can Help Your Love Life
The study shows how much someone’s life can be improved with hearing aids:
70 percent of people who wore hearing aids said they could communicate better because of their hearing aids
Over 50 percent said that hearing aids improved their relationships, their social lives and their confidence in joining groups
40 percent had more self-confidence and stronger feelings of independence as a result of their improved hearing with the hearing aids
Over 25 percent of respondents saw improvement in their romantic lives
Hearing Aids Are Not What You May Think
Many people avoid getting hearing aids because they think the devices are bulky, unattractive-looking, and difficult to use. These outdated ideas about hearing aids keep people from considering them as a simple and available option for dealing with hearing loss.
The Truth About Hearing Aids
The truth is that hearing aids today are technologically advanced, discreet, and virtually unnoticeable. Some of the newest models are completely invisible! They are also affordable, easy to use, and can make an enormous difference in the quality of life of someone with hearing loss.
Quality of Hearing Health Care Matters
Another important finding of the survey was that the quality of life improvements reported by those people who wear hearing aids were very closely related to the quality of care they received from their hearing health professional. Hearing aid users who had experienced audiologists that use cutting edge technology and who were highly knowledgeable about different hearing aids on the market had a higher satisfaction rating with their hearing aids overall.
Hearing Aids Make A Difference
Ultimately, this research proves that hearing aids can drastically improve the quality of life of someone with hearing loss – in their work, at home, with their friends, and in their own self-confidence.
